Augusta Blasts Three Homers in Win Over Emmanuel

AUGUSTA, Ga.- The Augusta offense came to life and picked up a 10-6 win over Emmanuel University Tuesday at Jaguar Field. The Jags would hit three homers, including two in the eighth inning, in knocking off the Lions. With the victory, Augusta is now 9-25 on the year while Emmanuel is 17-19.

Nolan Turner, Mike Morrison and Matthew Thigpen would all crack homers propelling AU to the win.

Augusta wasted little time to get the bats going plating three runs in the first inning. Turner singled to lead off the game and following a walk to Morrison, Parker Ingram would come through with a run-scoring double. Zach Kwaitkowski would be next and he'd add a double of his own plating two more runs.

After the Lions scored their first run of the game in the third, the Jaguar bats would bite again. This time it was Thigpen delivering a three-run towering homer to give the Jags a 6-1 lead.

In the fourth, Ingram, who had four hits on the game, would come up with a run scoring single to give AU a 7-3 lead.

The Lions would make it interesting by scoring three runs in the top of eighth, but again, the Augusta bats would provide some insurance. With two outs, Owen Primm would single and then Turner would hit a home run to left field. For Turner, he had three hits a single, double and the homer and drove in two runs. That was followed by Morrison's solo shot to cap off the scoring. With the hit, Morrison extended his hit streak to 27 straight games as he also scored three times.

Caleb Bohn stated for AU and went five solid innings. He gave up just two earned runs while striking out seven and registered the win. Caleb Jatko came on in the ninth and got the Lions in order to end things. Jatko struck out two of the three batters he faced.

Augusta will next be in action Wednesday night at 6 p.m. when Newberry comes to the Garden City.
