Aiken, S.C. - USC Aiken broke open a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning by scoring seven times as they knocked off Augusta 9-5 in Sunday's series finale. The Jaguars did score three in the top of the ninth, but it would be too little too late. AU falls to 6-15 in conference play and 10-32 overall. USC Aiken is now 8-13 in conference and 18-24 overall.
Parker Ingram led the Jags offense with two hits and four runs driven in.
Roland Chance collected the other RBI for Augusta.
The game started well for AU as they pushed a run across in the opening inning.
Nolan Turner reached on a dropped third strike and moved to third on a
Mike Morrison single. He would then score on Ingram's first hit of the game.
USCA responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and it remained that way until the sixth. Chance would unload with a home run to knot the score at two.
But in the eight, it would be the Pacer offense scoring seven times on five hits to take the lead.
The Jaguars tried to fight back in the top of the ninth and scored three runs.
Owen Primm doubled, Turner would walk and Morrison would single to load the bases. Ingram then hit a three-run double to plate the final AU runs.
Caleb Bohn pitched well and was not involved in the decision. Bohn went six innings and allowed five hits and two runs. He also struck out four.
Augusta returns home and will finish the year with eight straight home games at Jaguar Field. Belmont Abbey will take on AU Wednesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. The entire community is invited to attend an Easter Egg hunt hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The fun goes from 5-8 p.m. on the intramural field adjacent to the baseball field.
