Augusta, Ga. - Despite scoring three early runs and having big games from
Mike Morrison and
Parker Ingram, it was Georgia Southwestern knocking off Augusta 11-6 Saturday afternoon. The Jaguars are now 6-18 in Peach Belt Conference play and 10-36 overall. The Hurricanes improve to 16-8 in conference and 29-18 overall.
Morrison and Ingram went a combined five for eight with four runs scored and two runs driven in.Â
The Canes scored a run in the first inning but AU quickly responded. In the bottom half of the inning, Morrison singled to lead off the game. He moved to third on an Ingram double and would score an an infield ground out by
Jake Vachon. Â
The third inning was the Jags undoing when GSW scored six times to take an 8-3 lead. It would be 9-3 in the fifth when Augusta cut into the lead. Morrison doubled and then Ingram cracked his 14th home run of the year to make it 9-5.Â
It would be a 10-5 game in the eighth when the Jags made it interesting.
Ty McClintock walked to lead off the inning and would come around to score on a
Zach Kwiatkowski single. AU would load the bases and bring the tying run to the plate, but were unable to push another runner home.Â
Rushton Bowles finished with a single and a double while Kwiatkowski added a pair of hits as well.Â
Augusta starts the final week of the regular season with a home game against Anderson at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.Â
