Jags Take Down No. 8 North Georgia

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University softball earned its most significant win of the season on Saturday morning, defeating No. 8-ranked and 2025 Peach Belt Conference regular season champion North Georgia 10-6 at Jaguar Field. The victory marked Augusta's first win over North Georgia since 2013 and snapped a long-standing series streak.

With the win, Augusta improves to 26-25 overall.

After falling behind 2-0 on a first-inning home run, Augusta responded immediately in the bottom half. Ayellad Howard walked, and after a double from Bailee Roberts, Payton Terrell drove in Howard with a two-out single to left.

The Jaguars broke the game open with a seven-run third inning. Howard walked again to lead off and moved to third on a single from Chesney Miles. Roberts followed with an RBI single to right to tie the game at 2-2. Singles from Ansley Gibson and Nevaeh Ross, along with a walk from Terrell and a hit-by-pitch drawn by Cadance Winder, loaded the bases and put Augusta ahead. Grace Bailey then delivered a two-run double down the left field line, and Howard capped the rally with a two-RBI triple to the gap in left center. Augusta sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning and took an 8-2 lead.

North Georgia responded with four runs in the fourth to make it 8-6, but Augusta's bullpen closed the door from there. Terrell earned the win with 3.1 innings of relief, and Madalyn Spinks earned her second save of the season by tossing the final 3.1 scoreless frames, allowing just one hit.

The Jaguars added two insurance runs in the sixth. After a walk from Kaylynn Scaffe and a sacrifice bunt from Howard, Miles drove in Scaffe with a single to center and later scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Roberts.

Roberts went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Howard reached base three times and finished with three RBIs and a triple. Bailey added two RBIs, and Terrell, Ross, and Miles each drove in one run.

Augusta recorded nine hits, drew four walks, and committed no errors defensively.
