Wright Shines On the Mound as Augusta Knocks Off Flagler 11-1

Augusta, Ga. - Augusta pitcher Garrett Wright pitched a seven-inning complete game and held Flagler to just a single run as the Jaguars knocked off the Saints 11-1 on Senior Day at Jaguar Field. Wright allowed just five hits and struck out four for his third win of the year. Augusta improves to 8-18 in Peach Belt Conference play and 12-37 overall. Flagler is now 12-14 in the conference and 29-18 overall.

Wright gave up a run in the third, but was able to keep Flagler hitters at bay all afternoon.

At the plate, Aidan Cannaday and Jackson Thomas both hit two-run homers as the team collected 12 hits on the afternoon.

AU started the scoring in the second inning when Jake Vachon walked with one out. Then Cannaday lifted a high blast to right center for the early 2-0 lead.

The Jags then blew the game open in the fifth. Zach Kwiatkowski led off the inning with a single. He would go to third on another hit by Mike Morrison.  Rushton Bowles would come up with a sacrifice fly for the first run of the inning. Vachon would then single in Morrison and Ty McClintock would pick up a RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. They would cap off the frame when Vachon scored on a wild pitch.

An inning later, Kwaitkowski would single to start the sixth. With one out, Morrison added his third hit of the game. Then, with two outs, Thomas launched a three-run home run to make it 9-1 Augusta.

They would finish things off in the seventh as they took advantage of four straight walks and a RBI single by Nolan Turner to end the game.

Four different Jaguars had at least two hits and five players scored at least two runs.

Augsuta will go for the series sweep Sunday afternoon when they take on Flagler starting at 1 p.m..
