Following his time at Augusta, Massey earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Georgia State University in 2002 and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College in 2005. Over the past 23 years, Massey has dedicated his career to education and athletics in the Columbia County School System, serving as a teacher, coach, and administrator. He is currently the Athletic Director and head football coach at Greenbrier Middle School, where he continues to impact the lives of student-athletes. His coaching career includes roles as head baseball coach at The Galloway School in Atlanta, head track coach and assistant football and baseball coach at Evans High School, and head football and baseball coach at Greenbrier Middle.

In 2021, Massey was honored as the first-ever recipient of the Greater Augusta FCA CSRA Coach of the Year Award, recognizing his influence on and off the field.

A devoted member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and passionate supporter of Augusta Athletics, Massey also gives back through his role as owner of D-BAT Evans, a baseball and softball training academy located in Evans Towne Center. Massey and his wife of 24 years, Riki, reside in Evans, Georgia, and have three children: Gehrig (19), Greer (17), and Garner (14).

As part of this year's recognition, Massey was honored during the baseball game against Flagler, where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
