Augusta Takes Down Montevallo on Second Day of PBC-Gulf South Crossover

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. – Augusta improved to 6–2 on the season Friday afternoon with a four-set victory over Montevallo at the Convocation Center. The Jaguars rallied after dropping the opening frame to secure the win, 23–25, 26–24, 25–23, 25–17.

After the Falcons claimed the first set, Augusta responded in the second with late kills from Lauren Nelson and Layne Witherspoon to pull out a 26–24 decision. The third set stayed tight throughout before Nelson's finish closed out a 25–23 win. In the fourth, Augusta broke away midway through the frame with a 7–2 run and never looked back, sealing the match 25–17.

Nelson paced the attack with 19 kills on a .318 hitting percentage. Witherspoon followed with 17 kills on .433 efficiency and added two aces. Mia Saavedra registered 15 kills while contributing 44 digs defensively.

Sydney Harrington handed out 61 assists to guide the offense, while Sofiia Snitsarevych posted seven kills and four blocks. Serenity Jones added 10 kills, and libero Giulia Rodrigues finished with 12 digs.

Augusta (6–2) will continue its non-conference slate on Saturday at 5 pm against Mississippi College at the Convocation Center.
