LAKELAND, Fl. – Augusta dropped its final match of the Jet's Pizza FSC Volleyball Classic on Saturday evening, falling 3–1 to host Florida Southern inside George W. Jenkins Field House. The Jaguars (2-1) fell by set scores of 9-25, 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, while the Mocs improved to 3-0.
Augusta hit .084 with 41 kills and 61 digs, while Florida Southern posted a .205 attack percentage with 51 kills, 71 digs, and 16.0 team blocks.
Mia Saavedra paced Augusta with 12 kills, 10 digs, two aces, and three block assists. Layne Witherspoon added nine kills and two blocks, while Sofiia Snitsarevych tallied six kills and four block assists. Angela Mateos finished with five kills and two blocks. Setter Sydney Harrington dished out 28 assists and picked up 10 digs
After a difficult opening set, the Jaguars battled back to push Florida Southern in each of the next three frames. Augusta pulled within one late in the second before the Mocs held on, and the Jaguars answered with a 25-22 win in the third. The fourth set featured nine lead changes and 13 ties, but Florida Southern closed on a late run to secure the match.
