AMERICUS, Ga. –Augusta men's basketball(9-14, 4-9 Peach Belt) dropped a 75–65 road decision to Georgia Southwestern (14-7, 7-6 Peach Belt) on Saturday night at the Storm Dome.
The Jaguars traded punches early and stayed within striking distance throughout the first half. After Georgia Southwestern pushed in front 8-2, Augusta answered with a quick run highlighted by a Luis Nonfon layup and a pair of threes to close the gap. The Hurricanes hit a stretch of perimeter shots to build their largest lead of the half, but Augusta steadied and trimmed it back to five at the break, 39-34.
Augusta opened the second half with back-to-back baskets to briefly take the lead, and the teams were locked in a one-possession game multiple times in the middle of the period. Georgia Southwestern regained control down the stretch, converting at the line and getting a late scoring push to create separation in the final minutes.
Tobias Prall led Augusta with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while Kyndon Wilburg and Elías Pálsson added 11 apiece. Evan Joyner finished with seven points, and Nonfon posted 10 rebounds.
