Men's Golf Heads to Notre Dame For the Fighting Irish Classic

Augusta, Ga. - The Augusta men's golf team heads back to work in South Bend, Indiana for the Fighting Irish Classic Oct. 4-5. This will be the third tournament of the fall and the Jaguars have played well to star off the year.

After winning the Jaguar Fall Invitational, the team finished fifth at the Bearcat Invitational two weeks ago. There's plenty of firepower in the lineup and coach Steven Paine likes how his team has come out to start the year, especially with the new faces in the lineup.

"It's a fun group, we make a lot of birdies," said Paine. "We led the field in birdies in the first two tournaments which is awesome. We're excited to see how we stack up in a really good field this week."

There are 14 teams in the field including some of the top programs in the country. But for AU, it's a can-do attitude.

"That's what we kind of want them to do, go out there and let it loose," said Paine. "It's kind of our motto for them - let them run, let them do their thing, and no holding back."
