Hardeeville, S.C. - Augusta's
Caleb Jatko pitched a complete game five hitter with eight strikeouts as Augusta took down USC Beaufort 7-3 Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Jaguars improve to 5-0 in Peach Belt Conference play and 9-5 overall. The Sand Sharks are 0-5 in the conference and 5-8 overall.
Jatko gave up three runs, but just one earned as he is now 2-0 on the season.
At the plate,
Roland Chance and
Kent Moon each hit two-run homers in the victory. Chance's homer started the scoring in the second as
Jake Vachon scored in front of him.
Moon's homer came in the fourth inning and gave AU a 4-3 lead. Chance scored in front of him.
Jakob Cowart reached on an error that allowed another Jaguar run to score in the sixth and then the Jags finished off the scoring with two more in the eighth.
Davis Newman and
Aidan Cannaday would pick up RBI.
Newman had a pair of hits, as did
Nathan Martin. Vachon reached base three times on the afternoon.
The Jaguars will go for the series sweep on Sunday when they take on the Sand Sharks with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
