Roland Chance hit two homers and
Nolan Turner would drive in the game winning run as Augusta outslugged Erskine 10-9 at Jaguar Field Tuesday evening. The Jaguars improve to 2-1 on the young season while the Flying Fleet fall to 0-3.
The game would be tied at seven in the seventh inning when Turner singled home
Mattheson Go with the go ahead run. Then, in the eighth, Chance would crush his second homer in the night, a two-run shot, giving AU a 10-7 lead. Erskine did score two in the eight inning, but
Elijah Durnell would strikeout the side in the top of the 9th for his second save of the year.
Ty Cobb picked up the win and is now 2-0 on the young season.
Chance would finish the game with four hits, five runs driven in and three runs scored.
Jake Vachon would also collect four hits on the game to lead the Jaguar offense.
Turner continued his hot hitting in the early portion of the season with a two hits, a triple included, and scored four runs.
Kent Moon would hit a homer in the second inning, it was one of two hits on the game for Moon.
After jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the opening inning, Erskine would score four runs in the second inning. The Flying Fleet would take a 7-5 lead in the sixth when Chance would tie the game in the sixth with a two-run blast.
Go would reach base on a walk in the seventh and move to third on a two-base error. Turner would then single him home with the go ahead run. Chance's second homer of the night would give Augusta a 10-7 lead and would hang on for the victory.
The Jaguars will next travel to West Alabama to take on Albany State and the host team on Saturday. They will finish out that series with a single game against West Alabama on Sunday.
