DUE WEST, S.C. – Augusta University women's tennis opened its 2026 season on Tuesday with a tightly contested 4-3 road loss at Erskine.
The Jaguars (0-1) earned three points in singles play but dropped the doubles point and two close three-set matches in singles that ultimately proved decisive.
Andrea Gonzalez dominated on court one, dispatching Hanna Vasconez 6-3, 6-3, while Giovanna Patrocinio secured a straight-sets victory at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-4). Priscilla Landi added a third win for Augusta with a 6-3, 7-6(4) result on court four.
In doubles, the Jaguars grabbed a win at No. 3 from Patrocinio and Camila Taborga, but Erskine secured the doubles point with victories at the top two positions.
Despite a strong start from Taborga at No. 5 singles, she fell in a three-set battle (6-2, 3-6, 5-7). Landi and Gonzalez gave Augusta a chance, but Erskine's early doubles edge held up in the final tally.
