FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Augusta University men's tennis kicked off its 2026 campaign with a tight 4-3 road victory over Emmanuel University on Sunday afternoon.
The Jaguars (1-0) rebounded from losing the doubles point by winning four of six singles matches to edge the Lions (3-2) in their season opener.
Emmanuel earned the early lead after taking wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. The No. 3 match was left unfinished with Augusta's Alexis Bailhache and Tommy Matsumine trailing by a game.
In singles, Augusta responded in dominant fashion. Enzo Sakiyama set the tone with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court six to tie the match, and Humberto Pinto followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5.
David Perret picked up a straight-sets victory at No. 3 (7-6, 7-5), and Tommy Matsumine clinched the match at No. 4 after rallying for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win.
Emmanuel earned points at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but Augusta's depth secured the team result.
