AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta competed throughout both games of a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Columbus State Cougars softball on Saturday at Jaguar Field, coming up short in both contests. The Jaguars move to 16-16 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
Game One
Augusta showed early fight, responding with a run in each of the first three innings to keep pace and trim the deficit to 5-3.
Chesney Miles led the Jaguars offensively with two hits and two runs scored, while Kaylynn Scaffe added a double and an RBI.
The Jaguars continued to create opportunities through the middle innings, putting runners on base and applying pressure, but were unable to capitalize on those chances as Columbus State built momentum in the later innings.
Game Two
In the second game, Augusta again competed early and looked to build momentum at the plate.
The Jaguars broke through in the second inning and continued to generate chances, before adding two runs in the seventh inning. Kristyn Ezzo highlighted the late push with a two-run home run.
Chesney Miles continued to pace the offense, reaching base multiple times, while Sydney Gilbert contributed with a double.
Augusta's pitching staff worked through traffic across both games, limiting additional damage in key moments and keeping the Jaguars within reach.
