Columbus, Ga. - Despite
Landon Leonard picking up three hits including a two-run homer, it was Columbus St. scoring 12 runs over a two inning span to beat Augusta 12-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Jaguars are now 11-15 in Peach Belt Conference play and 17-26 overall. CSU improves to 18-8 in conference action and 27-15 overall.
Jakob Cowart led off the game with a single and two batters later Leonard would launch a home run to give the Jaguars the early 2-0 lead.
Ty Cobb held the Cougars scoreless for five innings but ran into trouble in the sixth when CSU plated eight runs en route to victory. Cobb was charged with the first three runs of the frame.
Augusta did strand eight runners as
Nolan Turner,
Aidan Cannaday,
Carter Morris and
Ryan Patrick also collected hits.
The Jaguars will look to salvage the last game of the series Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m..
