Jaguars Split Conference Doubleheader with USC Beaufort

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University softball split a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with USC Beaufort on Saturday, earning a 5-0 shutout victory in game one before falling 5-1 in game two. The Jaguars move to 21-24 overall and 10-11 in conference as they enter the final stretch of the regular season with two conference series remaining.

Game One

Augusta set the tone early in the opener, manufacturing a run in the first inning as Chesney Miles reached base and used her speed to move into scoring position before Kaylynn Scaffe delivered an RBI single to give the Jaguars a 1-0 lead.

The Jaguars added to their lead in the third, again sparked by Miles at the top of the lineup. After reaching base, Augusta strung together timely hits, including another RBI single from Scaffe, and added two more runs in the inning to extend the lead to 4-0.

Augusta added an insurance run in the fifth when Scaffe connected on a solo home run, capping off a standout performance at the plate. She finished 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the offense. Miles also turned in a strong performance, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and creating pressure on the bases, while Ansley Gibson added three hits, finishing 3-for-4, as the Jaguars totaled nine in the game.

In the circle, Kristyn Ezzo delivered a dominant complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits while working through traffic to keep USC Beaufort off the board.

Game Two

USC Beaufort struck early in game two, scoring in the first inning before adding runs across the middle frames to build a 5-0 lead. The Sand Sharks applied pressure on the bases throughout, using aggressive baserunning to generate offense.

Augusta continued to compete and broke through in the fifth inning when Nevaeh Ross delivered a solo home run to put the Jaguars on the board.

Kaylynn Scaffe and Grace Bailey each added hits, but Augusta was limited to three on the game against a strong Beaufort pitching performance.

In the circle, Augusta utilized multiple pitchers, with Rylan Music and Kristyn Ezzo combining to settle things over the later innings and limit further damage.
