AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University celebrated Senior Day on Sunday afternoon before closing the regular season with a 5-2 loss to Georgia College at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Bobcats claimed the doubles point with wins on all three courts to take the early lead.
Augusta answered with two singles victories. Camila Taborga earned a hard-fought three-set win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, while Giovanna Patrocinio added a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Andrea Gonzalez opened with a first-set win before falling in three sets. Luciana Bejarano also pushed her match to a deciding tiebreak before coming up just short, 6-4, 3-6, 13-11.
Maria Gento and Priscilla Landi dropped straight-set decisions as Georgia College secured the team result.
The Jaguars close the regular season at 7-10 overall and now turn their attention to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
Augusta earned the No. 7 seed in the tournament bracket and will face No. 2 Flagler on Friday, April 24 at 12:00 p.m. in Columbus, Ga. The tournament will be hosted at the John C. Walden Tennis Center.
