Jags Put Up Fight Against Indians

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State fell 3-2 to Catawba at the Christenberry Fieldhouse in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Jessica Howard paced the Jaguars with 19 kills and seven total blocks. Senior Amy Hunt added 11 kills, while freshman setter Ashley Zappitell posted a double-double with 41 assists and 10 digs. Junior Lindsey Weider notched 16 digs and sophomore Chase Lowther had a total of 12 digs.

For the Indians, senior Melissa Powers posted 22 kills and seven total blocks. Senior Melissa Griffith notched 21 digs and 12 kills, while freshman setter Megan Courson netted 53 assists.

The Jaguars return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to play a non-conference match against Converse at 6:00 p.m.
