TAMPA, Fla. --
Augusta State fell 76-48 at Tampa on Tuesday night in
non-conference action. With the loss, the Lady Jags dropped to 3-5
on the year, while the Spartans improved to 9-1.
Senior Tracey Paschal paced the Lady Jags with 13 points and nine
rebounds. Junior Porsha White had seven points and three rebounds,
while sophomore Kenisha Sheppard tallied seven points. Junior
Brittany Jarrard and junior Jasmine Godwin added six points
each.
Junior Tiara Cook paced the Spartans with 19 points and six
rebounds, while junior Caitlyn Mitryk added 12 points and seven
rebounds. Tampa shot 100.0 percent from the free-throw line and
53.4 percent from the field.
Tampa held ASU to 10 first-half points while building a 38-point
lead at the break. The Spartans shot 72.4 percent from the field
while limiting the Lady Jags to 15.4 percent during the first
half.
The Lady Jags recorded eight steals and shot 87.5 percent from the
free-throw line but suffered 19 turnovers. ASU outscored the hosts
38-28 in the second half and got 20 points from its bench.
ASU returns to conference play on Saturday Jan. 3, when the Lady
Jags take on Clayton State in Morrow, Ga., at 5:30 p.m.
