AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Augusta State dropped its sixth straight game Saturday night with a
57-54 setback at the hands of Armstrong Atlantic State 57-54 in a
Peach Belt Conference matchup in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Lady Pirates improved to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in
the league, while the loss dropped Augusta State to 3-9 overall and
1-4 in conference play.
For the Lady Jaguars, junior Brittany Jarrard led the team with 12
points, while Junior Porsha White earned her first double-double of
the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Eboni Davis also
earned her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12
rebounds
Senior Lacey Willis led the Lady Pirates, scoring her 1,000th
career point for AASU and notching a double-double with 15 points
and 13 rebounds. Senior center Kelly Versluis also aided in the win
with 14 points and nine rebounds.
ASU shot 53.8 percent from the free throw line and limited the Lady
Pirates to a 36.9 percentage shooting, but connected on only
5-of-23 3-point attempts and only shot 31.3 percent from the
field.
The Lady Pirates shot 71.4 percent from the field and forced 15 ASU
turnovers, but only shot 21.1 percent from the 3-point line.
The Lady Jags were without the services o senior forward Tracey
Paschal, who was serving the second of her two-game suspension for
a violation of team rules.
The Lady Jags travel to Lander for a Peach Belt Conference matchup
in Greenwood, S.C., on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
