– Augusta State suffered an 80-75 loss to Anderson Tuesday
night in a non-conference road matchup in the Abney Athletic
Center.
With the loss, ASU dropped to 1-4 on the season, while the Trojans
improved to 2-2.
Junior guard Blaire Egardo led the Lady Jaguars with 19 points,
while senior guard Eboni Davis tallied 18 points, including five
3-pointers, three assists and two steals. Senior guard Brittany
Jarrard and freshman forward Waneta Carlisle netted 12 points
each.
Alexa Neal booked a game-high 20 points for Anderson, while Demika
Holt, Lauren Beeson and Ashley Abed chipped in 13, 12 and 10
points, respectively.
The Trojans connected on nine 3-pointers and edged ASU in
rebounding, 38-32. The Lady Jags committed a season-low 16
turnovers and converted 21-of-28 free throws, compared to just
9-of-12 at the charity stripe for Anderson.
In a contest that featured six ties and eight lead changes, ASU
trailed just 35-34 at the half.
The Lady Jags host Paine College on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m.,
and tip off their Peach Belt Conference schedule on Saturday, Dec.
5 against Armstrong Atlantic State on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
