– Francis Marion extended its winning streak to 14 in a row
Wednesday with a 78-65 Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta
State at Smith University Center.
With the victory, the 11th-ranked Patriots (23-6, 16-1) maintained
their two-game lead atop the BPC standings. The loss, ASU's
seventh straight, dropped the Lady Jaguars to 5-19 overall and 3-14
in the league.
Jennifer Dyer, Kevina Ransom and Creshena Singletary each scored 14
points for the Patriots, while Shannon Singleton-Bates added 10
points.
Junior forward Porsha White paced ASU with 13 points. Senior Tracey
Paschal and junior Brittany Hudson tallied 12 points each and
junior Eboni Davis chipped in 11. Sophomore Stacey Lampkin grabbed
a career-high 11 rebounds while Hudson's scoring output
marked a career best.
FMU, which never trailed in the contest, forced a season-high 42
turnovers from the Lady Jags. The Patriots converted those miscues
into 39 points and outscored ASU 56-36 in the paint.
The Lady Jags outrebounded the Patriots 50-46 and shot 83.3 percent
from the charity stripe, connecting on 20-of-24 free-throw
attempts.
ASU hosts North Georgia for Homecoming on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 4:00
p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
