AUGUSTA, Ga.
– Columbus State held off Augusta State, 67-64 on Wednesday
in a Peach Belt Conference matchup on Senior Night in Christenberry
Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Lady Cougars improved to 16-3 overall and 9-10 in
conference play. The loss dropped ASU to 5-21 overall and 3-16 in
the league. The loss was the ninth straight for the Lady Jags.
Junior Jasmine Godwin paced the Lady Jags with 16 points and six
assists. Sophomore Stacey Lampkin earned her first career
double-double with a career high of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior Brittany Jarrard netted 14 points off the bench, while
senior Tracey Paschal tallied 10 points.
For Columbus State, junior Phebe Smith led the team with a
double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Hali Moore added
a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Nikki
Urbizo added 12 points for the Lady Cougars.
ASU connected on 12-of-16 (75 percent) free throw attempts and
forced 15 Columbus State turnovers, but only shot 36.1 percent
(22-of-61) from the field.
The Lady Cougars shot 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the field and
46-to-36, but they only connected on 3-of-11 (27.3 percent) 3-point
attempts.
ASU travels to Americus, Ga., on Saturday, Feb. 28 to close out the
regular season against Georgia Southwestern at 5:30 p.m.
