Lakers Shut Down ASU

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Clayton State dealt Augusta State its worst conference loss this season with an 88-62 Peach Belt Conference victory over the Lady Jags Saturday in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

With the win, the Lakers improved to 17-4 overall and 11-3 in conference play. The loss dropped ASU to 5-16 overall and 3-11 in the league.

Junior guard Jasmine Godwin led the Lady Jags with 23 points. Junior Porsha White netted 10 points and eight rebounds, while junior Brittany Jarrard added 10 points. Senior Tracey Paschal tallied six rebounds.

For the Lakers, Junior Lesheria Stevens led the team with 20 points and seven rebounds, while senior Nikkisha Pritchett had 19 points off the bench. Senior Lisa Jackson tallied 10 points and seven rebounds, and freshman Brittany Hall added 10 points.

ASU shot 63.2 percent from the free throw line and connected on 6-of-13 3-point attempts (46.2 percent), while limiting CSU to a 42.9 shooting percentage.

The Lakers shot 71.4 percent from the free throw line and had 39 points off the bench. CSU won the rebounding edge 42-38 and forced 27 ASU turnovers.

ASU hosts Lander on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
