SAVANNAH, Ga.
– Augusta State fell 61-51 to Armstrong Atlantic State on the
road, Wednesday in a Peach Belt Conference matchup in Savannah,
Ga.
With the win, Armstrong Atlantic State moved to 6-6 on the season
and 3-1 in the conference, while the loss dropped the Lady Jaguars
to 1-14 overall and 0-6 in the league.
Freshman Waneta Carlisle led the Lady Jags with a game-high 19
points. Senior Eboni Davis snagged nine rebounds and added eight
points, while junior Briyana Evans had eight points.
For The Lady Pirates, Brooke Long led the team with 18 points.
Jazmin Walker added 14 points, and junior Shannon Singleton-Bates
booked 10 rebounds and netted six points. Portia Jones had nine
points, while Dartayvia Thomas had nine rebounds.
AASU owned the edge in rebounding, 43-39 and forced 19 ASU
turnovers. The Lady Pirates shot 57.1 percent from the free-throw
line, but connected on only 5-of-17 3-point attempts (29.4
percent).
Augusta State shot 85.7 percent from the free-throw line and
connected on 5-of-13 3-point attempts (38.5 percent), but only shot
32.3 percent from the field.
The Lady Jags are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 20, when they
host UNC Pembroke for a Peach Belt Conference contest at 5:30 p.m.,
in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
