AUGUSTA, Ga.
– Augusta State suffered an 57-50 loss to Peach Belt newcomer
Flagler Wednesday night in a Peach Belt Conference matchup in
Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Saints improved their record to 6-5 on the season and 1-1 in
the conference, while ASU dropped to 1-12 overall and 0-4 in the
league.
Senior guard Briyana Evans paced the Lady Jaguars with a team-high
16 points, while junior Stacey Lampkin tallied 11 rebounds and
added eight points.
Junior Chanti Beckett tallied a game-high 18 points for Flagler,
while freshman Jen Knurek netted 11 points. Senior Jalisa Foster
snagged 10 rebounds and added eight points.
Augusta State owned the edge in rebounding, 44-30 and shot 72.7
percent from the free-throw line, but connected on only 4-of-15
3-point attempts (26.7 percent).
The Saints shot 61.5 percent from the free-throw line and forced 20
ASU turnovers, but only shot 39.3 percent from the field.
The Lady Jags are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 9, when they
take on Francis Marion in a Peach Belt Conference contest at 5:30
p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
