AUGUSTA, Ga.
– Francis Marion dealt Augusta State its 10th straight loss
Saturday with a 86-62 Peach Belt Conference victory over the Lady
Jaguars in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
With the win, Francis Marion moved to 11-2 on the season and 3-1 in
the conference, while the loss dropped the Lady Jaguars to 1-13
overall and 0-5 in the league.
Junior Stacey Lampkin led the Lady Jags with 14 points and six
rebounds. Junior Briyana Evans added 12 points, while junior Blaire
Egardo tallied 11 points. Freshman Breanna Harris netted 10
points.
For The Patriots, freshman Courtney Mealing led the team with a
game-high 15 points. Senior Nicole Mealing added 14 points, and
junior Shannon Singleton-Bates booked 11 points. Junior Tiahana
Bowens had 10 points and snagged seven rebounds.
Francis Marion owned the edge in rebounding, 39-6 and forced 31 ASU
turnovers. The Patriots shot 61.5 percent free-throw line and 50.0
percent from the field, but connected on only 8-of-20 3-point
attempts (40.0 percent).
ASU shot 65.0 percent from the free-throw line and forced 22 FMU
turnovers, but only shot 37.0 percent from the field.
The Lady Jags are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 13, when they
travel to Savannah, Ga., to take on Armstrong Atlantic State in a
Peach Belt Conference contest at 5:30 p.m.
