Clayton State Swarms Lady Jags

MORROW, Ga. -- Sixth-ranked Clayton State dealt Augusta State the worst loss in school history Saturday, overwhelming the Lady Jaguars 112-43 in Peach Belt Conference action at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

The Lakers remained undefeated, moving to 10-0 and 2-0 in the PBC, while ASU fell to 6-3 and 0-2 in the league.

Clayton State forced a school-record 46 Lady Jaguar turnovers and held ASU's leading scorer Blaire Egardo without a point. Egardo entered the game ranked fourth in the PBC in scoring at 17.6 ppg.

Sophomore Waneta Carlisle managed 11 points and was the only Lady Jag to reach double figures.

Teshymia Tillman led six Lakers in double figures with 18 points and six steals. Tanisha Woodard booked 17 points and eight steals, Kayla Mobley and Shacamra Jackson netted 13 each and Drameka Griggs and Alexis Griffin chipped in 10 each. Brenna Fort grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

CSU nailed 10 3-pointers and set five school records: most points in a game, most points in a half (60 in second half), largest margin of victory (69), most assists in a game (31) and most steals in a game (36).

ASU, which shot just 32.0 percent from the field, fell behind 10-0 in the first four minutes and 23-3 midway through the first half. The Lakers led 52-19 at the half and by as many as 73 with 3:20 remaining in the game.

ASU returns from its holiday break on Monday, Jan. 3, hosting North Georgia in a PBC matchup in Christenberry Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m.
