AUGUSTA, Ga.
– USC Aiken held Augusta State to a season-low 16 points in
the first half on Wednesday with a 72-47 Peach Belt Conference
victory over the Lady Jaguars in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
With the win, USC Aiken improved to 11-10 on the season and 6-6 in
the conference, while the loss dropped the Lady Jags to 1-19
overall and 0-11 in the league.
Freshman Waneta Carlisle paced the Lady Jags booking her second
double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Senior
Eboni Davis added 10 points and had three assists, while junior
Briyana Evans snagged five rebounds.
For USC Aiken, Catherine Cain led the team with a game-high 16
points, while Kendra Chandler netted 10 points and five rebounds.
Daniela Tarailo added 10 points off the bench and Deandra Schirmer
had nine rebounds.
The Lady Pacers shot 69.2 percent from the free-throw line and
forced 16 ASU turnovers, but connected on only 2-of-13 3-point
attempts (15.4 percent).
Augusta State connected on 16-of-23 free-throw attempts and shot
41.7 percent from the 3-point line, but shot only 28.9 percent from
the field.
Augusta State is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 6, when they
travel to Greenwood, S.C., to take on Lander in a Peach Belt
Conference matchup at 1:30 p.m.
