GREENWOOD, S.C.
– Lander shot 61 percent Saturday afternoon en route to a
99-51 victory over Augusta State in a Peach Belt Conference contest
at Finis Horne Arena.
The Lady Bearcats, ranked 10th nationally, improved to 19-1 overall
and remained perfect in conference play at 12-0, while the loss
extended ASU's skid to 17 in a row. The Lady Jags dropped to
0-12 in the PBC and to 1-20 on the season.
Ciara Lyons paced Lander with a game-high 20 points and added six
assists and four steals. Kaylyn Small contributed 18 points off the
bench and Shannon McKever notched 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Brittni Johnson chipped in 13 points.
Senior forward Kirsten Stallings led ASU with 15 points off the
bench. Senior guard Eboni Davis added five assists and two
steals.
The Lady Bearcats led the entire way, jumping out to a 45-29 lead
at the half. They shot 70 percent in second half and connected on
9-of-21 3-point attempts for the game.
Lander forced 31 ASU turnovers and scored 51 points off the Lady
Jags' miscues.
The Lady Jags travel to UNC Pembroke on Monday, Feb. 8 for a PBC
matchup at 5:30 p.m., in the English E. Jones Center.
