AUGUSTA, Ga. -- USC Aiken senior Deandra Schirmer scored 14 points with five rebounds Monday night to lead the Lady Pacers to a 59-48 Peach Belt conference win over Augusta State in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Lady Pacers improved to 17-4 overall and 9-2 in the PBC, while the Lady Jags dropped to 6-10 overall and 0-8 in conference play. The loss was the eighth straight for ASU, which started the season 6-2.
The Lady Jags battled back from a double-digit deficit with the help of senior Blaire Edgardo and sophomore Eryka Menzies, who each tallied 11 points. Sophomore forward Waneta Carlisle racked up nine points and a team-high six rebounds.
"We had some stretches of good defense tonight, and we competed," said ASU head coach Nate Teymer. "The same things that have plagued us this entire year came up tonight and shed a light on what we need to improve."
Paced by Schirmer, USCA got 13 points from Hannah DeGraffinreed and 11 from Triahna Harris.
ASU shot 39 percent from the field with an impressive 46.2 percent from the three-point line.
The Lady Jags will be back in action Thursday, Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m., when they host Georgia Southwestern in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
