AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Junior forward Cierra Duhart notched a double-double for Georgia Southwestern on Thursday night to lead the Lady 'Canes to a 74-53 Peach Belt conference win over Augusta State in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Lady 'Canes improved to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the PBC, while the Lady Jags dropped to 6-11 overall and 0-9 in conference play. The loss was the ninth straight for ASU.
ASU sophomore reserve guard Morgan Goss tied for the team lead with a career-best 11 points and had three assists and a pair of steals. Freshman reserve forward Jemimah Ashby added 11 points.
Duhart led all players with 12 rebounds and added four blocks and four assists. Two other Lady 'Canes joined Duhart in double figures. Junior Jessica Bivins led all scorers with 15, while Shakira White contributed 12.
"They came with more energy. We need to get back to how we started playing at the beginning of the season – with more energy." said ASU coach Nate Teymer.
ASU shot 35 percent from the field and only 17.6 percent from the 3-point line. The Lady Jags shot an impressive 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free-throw line in the second half.
The Lady Jags are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m., when they host Columbus State in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
