North Georgia Trips Up Lady Jags, 81-69

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- North Georgia jumped out to a big first-half lead and made it stand up Monday in an 81-69 Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta State in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Lady Saints improved to 10-2 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while ASU dropped to 6-4 and 0-3 in the league.

Sarah Stinson booked a double-double with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds for NGCSU. Lindsey Moss posted 18 points and 10 boards, while Brooke Garmon managed 13 points. Janyce Ealey and Jessica Trice added 10 points each.

ASU senior guard Blaire Egardo scored a squad-high 12 points and Eryka Menzies netted 11. Jemimah Ashby and Briyana Evans chipped in 10 points each, and Evans snagged a team-best nine rebounds.

North Georgia shot 58 percent in the first half and led by as many as 18 late in the first half before taking a 48-36 lead into the break.

The Lady Jags trimmed their deficit to 50-42 after a Menzies' jumper at the 17:16 mark of the second half. North Georgia answered with a 7-0 spurt for a 15-point lead and ASU never got closer than nine the rest of the way.

The Lady Jags shot 41.2 percent overall, including 50 percent in the first half, and forced 19 North Georgia turnovers.

The Lady Saints combined for nine 3-pointers while ASU drained eight treys.

ASU travels to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Flagler (2-7, 0-2 in the PBC) on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
