ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Flagler outscored Augusta State 42-31 in the second half Wednesday and registered a 76-67 Peach Belt Conference victory over the Lady Jaguars in Flagler Gym.
With the win, the Saints improved to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the PBC, while ASU (6-4, 0-4) suffered its third straight loss in league play.
Senior shooting guard Blaire Egardo nailed five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 24 points for the Lady Jaguars. Sophomore forward Waneta Carlisle added 11 points, while junior forward Asha Gwynn grabbed seven rebounds and senior point guard Jarquella Woods dished out seven assists.
Tierra Ford came off the bench to pace Flagler with 20 points. Adrienne Donelson booked a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards to go along with four blocks and Arianna Roper chipped in 11 points.
ASU led by as many as eight with 2:39 left in the first half before the Saints rallied to pull within 36-34 at the break. FC moved in front with an 8-0 spurt at the 12:46 mark and never trailed again.
The Lady Jags got within one at 53-52 following a Gwynn layup at the 8:13 mark. After a Carlisle free three knotted the game at 57-all with 6:13 to go, Flagler rattled off a 12-1 run over the next 3:43.
ASU, which set a season low with only 10 turnovers, shot 37 percent overall and connected on 7-of-15 3-point attempts. Flagler shot 50 percent from the field and owned the rebounding edge, 44-35
The Lady Jags return to action Saturday, Jan. 8, traveling to Florence, S.C., to face Francis Marion at 1:30 p.m.
