GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Lander celebrated its Senior Day with a 104-46 Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta State Saturday afternoon in Finis Horne Arena.
The Lady Jaguars saw their first season under head coach Nate Teymer come to an end at 8-18 overall and 2-16 in the PBC. The second-ranked Lady Bearcats finished 16-2 in the league and moved to 25-3 overall heading into next week's conference tournament.
Lander, which notched its sixth straight win over ASU, never trailed and shot 50 percent in the first half en route to a 41-23 lead at the break.
Senior Blaire Egardo, along with freshmen Jemimah Ashby and Jac' Weathers, led the Lady Jags with seven points each. Waneta Carlisle had a team-high five rebounds.
Senior center Shannon McKever notched a game-high 23 points for Lander, which had five players in double figures. Tasheba Butler and Chentieh Ladson pitched in 18 each, Jasmine Judge turned in 12 and Ciara Lyons booked 10 points and eight assists.
ASU shot just 34.0 percent for the game and connected on only 3-of-14 3-point attempts. The Lady Bearcats shot 57.3 percent, including 63.4 percent in the second half, and forced 32 turnovers while winning the battle of the boards 48-25.
The contest marked the final appearance in a Lady Jag uniform for seniors Egardo, Briyana Evans and Jarquella Woods.
