Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. -- No. 24 Augusta State held Armstrong Atlantic to its season-low points in a 66-42 Peach Belt Conference basketball victory on Thursday evening at Alumni Arena.
The Lady Jaguars (15-2, 8-2 PBC) won their seventh straight with the victory, while Armstrong dropped its second straight with the loss.
Armstrong went just 1-for-12 from three-point range in the first half and shot just 20 percent from the floor as Augusta State built a 31-17 lead at halftime. The Pirates were able to cut the lead to single digits in the second half, using an 8-0 run to cut the lead to nine, 41-32, with 9:27 left, but three-pointers by Becky Newhouse and Eryka Menzies pushed the lead back to 15 and allowed the Jaguars to coast to the victory.
Newhouse led the Jaguars with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, including 2-of-5 three-pointers, while Tanchelle Hollingsworth added 13 points and Eryka Menzies chipped in 11 points off the bench.
Armstrong was led by Tori Klewicki-McNutt's seven points, while Demisha Mills, Bryonna Davis and Hanna Bognar each added six points.
Augusta State shot 49.2 percent from the floor (29-of-59) while the Pirates shot 31.1 percent (19-of-61) and finished the game just 2-of-21 from three-point range (9.5 percent).
