Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The Jaguars turned the ball over to USC Aiken under twenty seconds for the Pacers to outlast GRU Augusta 49-46 in a back-and-forth Peach Belt Conference contest Saturday night in the Convocation Center.
The Pacers (6-14, 4-7) forced 17 Jaguar (9-9, 5-6) turnovers and capitalized on them for 14 points. USCA went into the half with a 27-25 advantage and held off the Jags in the second despite 10 score ties and three lead changes.
GRU's Marissa Mandeldove paced all scorers with 12 points while adding three rebounds. Whitney Rohrbach added nine points and seven boards and Kelsey Fynaardt and Brooke McCants put up six points each, with Fynaardt grabbing 11 rebounds.
Courtney Mealing led USCA with nine points and four rebounds and Amaura Brandt and Mariah Durian each scored nine points with Brandt hitting three treys and Durian hitting four-of-four free throws.
The Jaguars owned a 37-to-30 rebound contest, but USCA's 36.7 percent shooting from the floor gave them the edge over GRU's 36 percent. GRU shot 70 percent from the charity stripe, but gave up 12 points on second chances.
The Jaguars play at Clayton State on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for a 5:30 p.m. PBC tipoff in Atlanta, Ga.
