AUGUSTA, Ga. – GRU Augusta dropped its third straight on Saturday afternoon in a 68-45 Peach Belt Conference loss to Young Harris in Christenberry Fieldhouse for Military Appreciation Day.

The Mountain Lions (15-4, 10-2) finally broke up the tie game with a three-pointer to take an 11-8 early lead. GRU's Marissa Mandeldove hit a three form the right side, but YHC used the Jags' turnovers to score 15 points in the first half and build an eventual 30-20 lead at the half after GRU freshman Tavia Sykes sunk a trey under a minute.

The Jags had 14 turnovers in the first half and shot zero free throws. YHC's 2.2 percent from the field bettered GRU's 37.5 percent.

Out of the break Becky Newhouse made a three pointer off a Sykes pass to keep the game just under a 10-point affair. At the 11:12 mark, GRU was down 46-35 when YHC's Ladondra Johnson went off with a turn-around jumper bringing her team to the 50-point mark. Johnson finished with a game-high 21 points.

Up by 23 with 8:00 to go, the Mountain lions ran away with it and hit the dagger with 3:30 remaining when Keta Robinette made a trey from the corner to put her team up big where they outlasted the Jags. YHC shot 47.3 percent from the field to GRU's 39.6 and got to the line to hit 16 free throws to the Jags' four.

Fynaardt led the Jags with 14, while Whitney Rohrbach pitched in six with six rebounds and Sykes and Newhouse added five points each. Young Harris scored 18 points on second-chance attempts and 26 points off turnovers to GRU's 11. Peyton Robertson and Robinette chipped in nine each.

The Jags host Columbus State on Thursday, Feb. 13 for a 5:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference game in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
