Box Score

MILLEGEVILLE, Ga. - The GRU Augusta women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to a close in a 64-58 Peach Belt road loss to Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga. at the Centennial Center Wednesday evening.

Coming into the matchup, both programs were riding a three-game winning streak. The Jaguars (5-15, 4-9 PBC) hot stretch was their first of the season.

Throughout the contest the Jags struggled to get the ball in the basket, shooting 31.6 percent from the field. On the other hand, the Bobcats (11-9, 7-6 PBC) were lights out from the floor by shooting 52.3 percent.

GRU junior guard Camille Gee was the only player for the Jags to score in double figures with a game-high 22 points, 14 of which came in the first half. It was Gee's second-best shooting performance of the season after she put up 28 on Dec. 18 against Georgia Southwestern.

Bobcat guards Enisha Donley and Shanteona Keys provided a dynamic duo for the home team. Keys, fourth in the league in scoring, dropped 16 points and Donley paced the squad with 20 points.

Both teams pounded the ball down low for 22 combined points in the paint, but neither squad was able to score a basket in transition.

The Jags showed some positive signs on the defensive side by forcing 16 turnovers and tallying eight steals. Although, the Bobcats cashed in on their forced turnovers with 17 points off them, and the Jags only had 10.

Early in the game GRU went on a 16-5 run to build a double-digit lead, 37-26, but the Bobcats cut the deficit to 37-31 to close out the first period. The Bobcats claimed the scoring advantage, 41-40, six minutes into the second half off a Donley jumper. The Jags remained within striking distance, never falling behind no more than four points.

With 3:30 remaining, senior forward Kelsey Fynaardt sunk a layup to tie the game at 53-all. However, the Bobcats closed out the game with an 11-5 run to extend their winning streak to four. The Jags complete a three-game road stretch in Savannah, Ga. against PBC foe Armstrong on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
