Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta Jaguars outscored Flagler 15-9 over two rounds of overtime to hang on to a 79-73 Peach Belt Conference road win on Wednesday night in the Flagler Gymnasium. The victory is Augusta's fifth in a row as they lead the PBC East Division and are fourth in the NCAA Southeast Region.
With the game tied at 70 heading into double overtime, sophomore Joshlyn Belcher hit a three pointer and four free throws to help give the Jaguars (19-5, 12-3 PBC) the road win an avenge a recent home loss to Flagler.
Augusta senior Kariel Hutt recorded her 12th double-double of the season over Flagler (11-11, 7-8 PBC) to lead the team with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks. Belcher had 16 off the bench, hitting four field goals, four three pointers, and four free throws.
Junior Breonna O'Conner posted 14 points and five boards and senior Camille Gee pulled in seven boards and five points. The Jags were 41.2 percent shooting from the floor and recorded a 77.3 free-throw percentage.
In the paint, Augusta grabbed 47 boards to Flagler's 44 and they held the Saints to 35.2 field-goal percentage overall.
The Jags owned the first period 21-14, with sophomore Joshlyn Belcher hitting her only three-point shot taken in the opening 10 minutes. Belcher leads the Peach Belt in three pointers and made from beyond the arc.
The Saints sunk the first two shots for the initial lead in the game, but Hutt tied the game on a free throw and stole it on a layup at the 5:39 mark. DeAsha Campbell tied the game at 20-all with under eight to play in the first half, but Augusta held the lead and went into the half up 34-30.
The Saints won the third quarter 20-15 on the scoreboard and were up with under three minutes in the game. Junior Kayla Lovett found Hutt for a go-ahead layup in Augusta's favor, but the Saints kissed in a layup with 28 seconds left to force overtime.
After each team scored six in the first overtime, Belcher hit a three pointer and nailed four free throws to hold off Flagler. The Saints were paced by Teosha Ray's 20 points and Alex Alford's 16.
The Jaguars host rival USC Aiken on Saturday, Feb. 13 for 2016 Homecoming in Christenberry Fieldhouse – celebrating 25 Years of Christenberry Fieldhouse. The women's game begins at 1:30 p.m. and the men follow at 3:30 p.m.
