AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars earned their fifth shutout victory of the season with a 9-0 non-conference win over Concord on Wednesday afternoon at Newman Tennis Center.
Augusta only dropped three sets in singles play. Freshman Patrick Oliveira triumphed 6-0, 6-1 in the opening singles slot and Arthur Andrade and Thomas Sevel each won by the same score. Moritz Gehlhaus and Gabriel Pansera didn't drop a point in back-to-back 6-0 matches in singles competition to give the Jags the lead.
In doubles competition, the Jags were flawless with Oliveira and senior Nameer Shamsi winning 8-0 in the number one spot, before Gehlhaus and Sevel owned an 8-0 match in the second doubles match.
A forfeit at No. 3 doubles gave Augusta the flawless victory on the day over Concord University, located in Athens, W.Va.
Augusta hosts Alabama Huntsville on Monday, March 21 at Newman Tennis Center for a 12:00 p.m. non-conference match.
