Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars won a 14-3 non-conference game across town at Paine College on Wednesday afternoon for their sixth straight victory.
The Jaguars (24-11) took the contest in seven innings after Paine (19-13) called the game after seven innings. Augusta outhit the Lions 12-6 and gave five pitchers work on the mound.
Sophomore David Hagelston (3-2) made the start and got the win for the Jaguars in 3.0 innings where he allowed two hits for one run and struck out four.
Offensively the Jags were led by sophomore Gage Patton's 3-5 day with four RBI and a run. Sophomore Jim Wagner went 2-2 with two RBI and a run, junior Clint Hardy scored twice and had a home run, and Hunter Boose knocked a hit and scored three times.
Augusta earned a one-run lead in the first inning and tacked on four in third as they never looked back. David Bermudez logged 2.0 innings on the mound after Hagelston's start before Will Robertson, CJ Reed, and Chase Slone made brief outings.
The Jags host a three-day Peach Belt Conference series with rival USC Aiken April 8-10 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Augusta hosts USCA on Friday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. to kick off the series under the lights. USCA is ranked first in the PBC standings and the Jags sit second.
