LUBBOCK, Texas – The Augusta University women's golf team competed in their second event of the new season at the Red Raider Invitational on The Rawls Course and the Jags finished in fourth place out of 15 teams on Tuesday afternoon.
Hosted by Texas Tech, the second-annual Red Raider Invitational started with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun Monday for 36 holes on the par-72, 6,541-yard course. The Jags were tied for third heading into round three and ended 35-over par to take fourth.
New Mexico State dominated the top of the leaderboard and 16 under. Texas Tech (+25) took second, Oregon (+26) third, Augusta (+35) fourth, and East Tennessee State (+41) rounded out the top five teams.
Texas Tech's Gabby Barker won the individual title two-under par. Senior Josefine Nyqvist paced Augusta and finished tied for 17th overall (+8) with back-to-back 73's (+1). Sophomore Cecilia Diez-Moliner matched the finish and also tied for 17th.
Freshman Linda Lundqvist and senior Eunice Yi each tied for 31st 12 shots over par. Yi's low round of the event was a 71 (-1) and Lundqvist a 73 (+1). Senior Jessica Haigwood ended in 39th (+16) to conclude the Jags. Augusta combined for 31 birdies across 54 holes.
The Jaguars travel to Greenville, S.C., for the Lady Paladin Invitational Sept. 23-25 hosted by Furman.
