Augusta Women Are Ready For the West Coast Conference Championship

Augusta, Ga. - For the first time in program history, the Augusta golf teams will be part of the West Coast Conference Championships. Up first, the Jaguar women who will compete Saturday through Monday in the 54-hole event at Green Valley Golf Club in Fairfield, California.

It's been a good spring season for the Jaguars with four top five finishes and were in the top ten in all seven events. No question there's momentum on their side and interim coach Alison Crenshaw hopes it will carry over this weekend.

"I think the team has gained all the confidence in the world so they are super excited," said Crenshaw. "They've been saying it's a new conference and time to make a new impression and go show everyone who Augusta is."

With the success comes expectations and there are some lofty ones for the Jags this weekend. But they can't get too far ahead of themselves.

"My message to them lately has simply been to keep doing what you've been doing all year. That is to keep handling your business one swing at a time and the results will take care of themselves. Don't put too much expectations on what we've had," said Crenshaw.

Pepperdine is the current kingpin of the WCC and comes in as the no. 10 ranked team in the nation so Augusta will be in for a battle to leave their mark.
