Box Score 3 Huntsville, Ala. – GAME 1: The Augusta University Baseball team lost the first game of a doubleheader, 3-1 in 10 innings, Saturday afternoon to the Alabama Huntsville Chargers. The Jags fall to 0-2 on the season, and the Chargers improve to 2-0 on the season.
Augusta University's Hunter Norman gave the Jags six strong innings only giving up one hit, while striking out four. First baseman Timothy Gray went one-for-four had the lone RBI for the Jags as he drove in Carrington Evans with an RBI double in the 7th inning.
This was a low scoring affair as neither team was able to put a run across the board until the 7th inning, when the Jags took a 1-0 lead. The Chargers were able to spoil the Jags day by plating a run in the 9th inning to send it to extra innings. The Chargers got a two run walk off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure the win.
GAME 2: The Jags lost the second game of the double header, 9-4, in seven innings on Saturday to Alabama Huntsville. The Jags fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Chargers record improved to 3-0 on the year.
The Jags decided to go with a bullpen game as John Micah Law got the start and went two innings, only giving up one hit. Austin Heard came in and threw a pair of frames, giving up one run.
Leading the way on offense was Theron Powell, as he went two-for-four with an RBI. Beau Hanna added a double and a HR on the evening as well.
The 5th inning is when everything unraveled for the Jags, as they allowed eight runs to score. The home squad never looked back as they completed the series sweep of the Jags.
Augusta University travels to Mars Hill, North Carolina to take on Mars Hill University in a one game series on Tuesday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m.
