Box Score 2 ANDERSON, SC. – The Augusta University baseball team defeated Lake Erie early Saturday afternoon 4-3 in Anderson, S.C.
Augusta (1-8) took on the storm (0-1) out of Painesville, Ohio for a single weekend game and came back from a first-inning deficit to take the non-conference contest. Lake Erie totaled seven hits to AU's six, but they made one more error.
Ben Markiewicz and Brian Smith each had two hits and Markiewicz added an RBI for Augusta. Augusta's Mason Robertson had a 1-4 day with a run and RBI as the starting short stop. Skylor Myrphy, Mason Roberston, Theron Powell and Brian Smith all scored a run in the contest,
After trailing by 2 in the in the first inning, Augusta answered with runs in the first, third, fourth and eighth innings.
John Micah Law logged two innings before Chase Horton (1-1) logged three innings to strike out a six hitters and get the win.
Storm starter Tyler Brill (0-1) took the loss after allowing 1 hit for 1 run.
Augusta continues non-conference play this week when they travel to Due West, SC for a single game on Wednesday afternoon. The Jags will take on the flying fleet at 2:00 pm.
