Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team met the Young Harris Mountain Lions for the second time this season and won 50-41in a Peach Belt Conference battle in Christenberry Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
Augusta is now 10-16 and 7-11 in the league, while Young Harris moved to 15-11 and 9-9 in the conference.
Kennedi Manning led the team in both points and rebounds. Manning scored 14 points and added 8 rebounds. Senior Cameryn Wilson added 14 points. Freshman Ashleigh Boulin added 9 points while sophomore Kiera Howard added 7.
Young Harris outrebounded AU 43-28 but the Jaguars forced the Mountain Lions into 24 turnovers. Augusta added 18 points in the paint and 9 points off the bench.
AU held Young Harris to only 8 points in the first quarter of play. While Young Harris outscored the Jags in the third quarter, the mountain lions never led. In the 3rd quarter Young Harris scored 17 points to Augusta's 13 which cut the Jags lead to 38-31. Augusta went 4-10 in the fourth quarter to give the 50-41 victory.
The Jags shot 35.2 percent (19-for-54) from the field. They also shot 14.3 percent (1-for-7) from beyond the arc and 78.6 percent (11-for-14) from the free-throw line.
Young Harris was led by Carly Winter's 16 points.
The Jaguars play at home in a rivalry game against USC Aiken on Wednesday evening at 5:30pm.
Members of the Augusta Fall 2019 Athletic Director's Honor Roll will be honored at halftime of the men's game.
