Box Score The Augusta University Women's Basketball team won their final regular-season game against the Georgia College Bobcats, 65-51 on Saturday afternoon at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Jags improve to 12-16 overall and 9-11 in Peach Belt Conference play. The Bobcats fall to 5-23 on the year and 2-18 in the conference.
The Jags found themselves down 7-0 early in the game until Kennedi Manning made a layup to get Augusta on the board. Down by as many as 8, Augusta was able to narrow the deficit to 16-10 by the end of the first quarter. A 10-0 run at the beginning of the second quarter to help even up the score. The Bobcats held a narrow 1 point lead at halftime.
The Jags got off to a hot start, going on 15-1 run to take a 43-30 lead. Augusta outscored the Bobcats 23-3 in the third quarter, propelling them to 65-51 victory.
Zairya West led the way for the home team with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals. West shot 7-for-13 on the night and went 2-for-6 from three-point range. Kennedi Manning added 14 points on 7-for-12 shooting to go with her 7 rebounds. Stella Logbognon had a solid outing off the bench as she tallied 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The Jags shot 29-for-63 (46.0%) from the field, while the Bobcats went 18-for-51 (35.3%) from the field. Augusta went 5-for-16 (31.3%) from three-point range and went 2-for-2 (100%) from the free-throw line.
Augusta's first round of the Peach Belt Tournament will be announced on Sunday evening.
