AUGUSTA, Ga – Augusta men's cross country runner
Patrick Motes led the Jaguars in a statement win in the gold race at the Royals Invitational on Friday. The sophomore from Rome, Ga., ran the 8k course in 24:49.6, finishing in ninth place in a field of 257 runners. His time is the fastest 8k run in the Peach Belt so far this season and helped the Jaguars to an impressive win at the event, besting 28 teams including several Division I programs such as UNC Greensboro, UNC Charlotte and Winthrop. He finished only 27 seconds out of the lead and ran an average mile in 4:59.6.
